Corgoň now also in the Maxi Bottle
18.06.2007
Heineken Slovensko is launching an innovation to the market in the form of a completely new packaging, different from the ones the Slovak consumers were used to so far. Following the bottle and can, consumers can now find the Corgoň beer also in Maxi Bottles.
It is generally the case that beer is a product very sensitive to light, temperature and oxidation. The Maxi Bottle was specially developed as a packaging to be filled with beer, eliminating the penetration of sun radiation as well as the leakage of CO2 out of the bottle, so if correctly stored, the beer remains fresh. There is a lot of effort, testing and amending behind its development that enabled the meeting of the required high quality standard, which was an absolute priority right from the start. The fact that Corgoň, the most sold beer in Slovakia, will be bottled in Maxi Bottles is a proof of the Heineken Slovensko’s responsible approach.
“It is an ambition of Heineken Slovensko to keep confirming its position of the leader on the Slovak beer market. During the first five months of this year we have brought several innovations to the market, be it either the field of wrappings and packaging, or products. By introducing the Maxi Bottle we are bringing forth a unique novelty and at the same time we are opening a new category on the beer market. We believe it is a segment with a high growing potential, concerning either the volume of sale, but also values. These expectations of ours are also supported by the results of the carried out polls, which have shown that consumers expect such practical packaging and are ready to buy it,” said Dimitar Alexiev, General Manager of Heineken Slovensko.
The main advantage of the new packaging is its volume. Consumers will find 1.5 litres of the Corgoň beer in the Maxi Bottle, which is more than the common bottle, or can, but less than a little keg. This predestines it to be consumed by a bigger group of people at places, where the packages used so far have not been the most appropriate for various reasons. Beer is a social beverage and Heineken Slovakia perceives the new packaging now entering the market in these terms. As opposed to the glass bottle, it is possible to re-close the Maxi Bottle. The protective cap used is an added plus to the standard plastic cap known from mineral waters or non-alcoholic drinks. In order to prevent the unwanted opening and damaging of the beer, the products are further secured with an additional paper safety seal. The Maxi Bottle is light and unbreakable, which the consumers will appreciate both in cases of home consuming or during outdoor activities. Be it either grilling, fishing, gardening or a weekend in a country cottage with a company of friends.
